Retired Assistant Commissioner Willard Cunningham, who enjoyed a stellar career on the Royal Bahamas Police Force, died on Sunday morning.
In January 2010, Cunningham was appointed ACP after previously serving as Chief Superintendent of Police.
Cunningham joined the Police Force in 1971 and worked in several Family Island communities, including Exuma.
Before this promotion he was Chief Superintendent for the Family Islands.
Cunningham completed a post-graduate certificate in criminal justice and police management and attended the Senior Police Traffic Management Course at the Jamaican Constabulary Staff College in Jamaica.
He was awarded the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Award and the Meritorious Award, and received the Queen’s Police Medal in 2008.
Cunningham left the police force in October 2011 after a 40-year career.
