The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) has confirmed it is investigating an alleged assault involving one of its officers and a 4th-grade student at EP Roberts Primary School. The complaint was filed by the child's parent, who reported that their son was assaulted by a member of the RBPF while on school grounds.

According to a statement from the RBPF, an investigation was promptly initiated, and the parent has been regularly updated by the investigating officers.

The force also emphasized that the administrative staff at EP Roberts and officials from the Ministry of Education are fully cooperating with the investigation.

Furthermore, the RBPF clarified that the officer involved is not a School Resource Officer (SRO) and is not part of the School Policing Division.

Instead, the officer is currently assisting investigators with the inquiry into the incident.

The police emphasized their commitment to addressing all reports of student abuse seriously, underscoring their dedication to a thorough investigation.

Details regarding the alleged assault remain limited as the investigation continues.
