Police force discharges officer in Acklins

The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) has announced the dismissal of Constable 4280 Jacob Beneby from its ranks following an internal investigation into an incident in Acklins.

According to the police force, Beneby, who was assigned to the Acklins and Crooked Island Division, was discharged on Monday, December 23, 2024, in accordance with Section 21 (1) (c) of the Police Act 2009.

The police force did not provide a reason for his dismissal. However, the announcement followed reports that a police officer was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance footage stealing money from a local bar in Acklins.

A video purporting to show the incident has been widely circulated on social media.
