Anthony Bethel, a 31-year-old murder convict, was apprehended by police this morning in the area of East and Hay Streets.
Bethel's capture follows a short but intense manhunt triggered by his escape from Princess Margaret Hospital.
Bethel, who had been convicted of murder and was awaiting sentencing, managed to flee from the hospital at approximately 3:30 PM on Monday.
He was seeking medical treatment at the time of his escape. The circumstances surrounding how Bethel managed to slip away remain unclear.
At the time of his escape, Bethel was wearing jeans and a striped shirt. His brief freedom came to an end this morning.
