Prime Minister Philip Davis made it clear that Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper continues to have his full confidence and support as DPM and deputy leader of the Progressive Liberal Party in the wake of a political ad, which advertised Minister of Energy JoBeth Coleby-Davis as the next deputy leader of the PLP.
The political ad bearing the headline “JoBeth for Deputy”, shows an enlarged black and white photograph of Coleby-Davis alongside a smaller photograph of Cooper.
The Exumas and Ragged Island MP was elected PLP deputy leader following the 2017 General Election. He became deputy prime minister following the party’s landslide victory in the 2021 General Election.
Davis said the innovative work that Cooper is doing to revitalize the tourism industry is central to his administration’s plans to expand the Bahamian economy. Additionally, he said Coleby-Davis is doing “excellent work in her Ministry”, driving forward comprehensive energy reforms, bringing down electricity prices and strengthening the grid for reliability and resilience.
“Our cabinet is working together as a team, united in purpose, tackling the hardest problems our country faces - problems that have been neglected for too long,” Davis added.
