A 32–year-old man who was detained at Sandilands Rehabilitation Center is no longer a person of interest in the murder and sexual assault of 12-year-old Adriel Moxey based on evidence obtained by police.
On Monday, police arrested a 38-year-old man who is presently assisting
with the investigation.
The young girl’s body was found on a track road off Faith Avenue last month. She was lying on her back with nothing but a shirt on and a piece of cloth tied tightly around her neck.
Police said she had been sexually assaulted and strangled.
A man, who was a patient of Sandilands, was detained in connection with her murder. However, police were unable to speak with him immediately after his arrest based on recommendations by his physicians.
Samples from the crime scene were collected and sent abroad to be tested in a laboratory. It is unclear if this evidence has led to the arrest of a new suspect.
Moxey was laid to rest last weekend.
