A man has denied killing his girlfriend’s four-year-old daughter.
Darion Smith pleaded not guilty to claims that he beat D’onya “Bella” Walker to death on November 5, 2021 at his arraignment before Senior Justice Bernard Turner.
The toddler’s mother, Ostonya Walker, left her child in Smith’s care while she was at work.
She is charged with child cruelty and exposing a child to grievous harm.
Walker also denied the charges when she appeared before Justice Turner.
The pair will learn their trial date later this month.
Smith remains in custody and Walker is free on bail.
