As coronavirus cases soared to 989 on Tuesday, Labour Minister Dion Foulkes advised all agencies, departments, sections and units under the Ministry of Labour to close effective immediately to the general public.
Only essential workers who have urgent items that must be addressed at the office should report to work.
The decision to shut down all Labour offices comes as the virus spreads to various government agencies, including the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Education, National Insurance Board, Bahamas Power and Light, Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre, Royal Bahamas Police Force and Department of Immigration.
44 people tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday. 26 new cases were confirmed on New Providence, 10 on Grand Bahama, two on Abaco, one on Inagua and five pending.
Inagua’s first Covid-19 case comes one day after restrictions for that island were lifted.
111 new cases have been reported since Sunday.
