Michael Johnson, Bjorn Ferguson, Deangelo Rolle charged

Updated: 4 hours ago

Former officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department, Michael Johnson, was arraigned in the Magistrates Court alongside well-known attorney Bjorn Ferguson and police Sergeant Deangelo Rolle.

Johnson faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit bribery, stealing, receiving, and accessory after the fact.

It is alleged that between November 6 and 15, 2023, Johnson conspired to solicit a bribe from wanted man Michael Fox Jr, and stole $90,000 linked to a $1 million Bank of the Bahamas heist.

He is also accused of enabling Fox Jr. to avoid due process.

Ferguson is charged with accessory after the fact, while Rolle faces a charge of abetment to stealing.

Johnson was granted $25,000 bail, while Ferguson and Rolle received $7,500 bail each.

Johnson had been on leave since July following the leak of audio recordings involving a senior police official and Fox Jr., who was allegedly negotiating his surrender to police and release.

Fox Jr. was later killed in May 2024.

The men are due back in court on January 30 for the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment.
