Man Attempted Suicide in Police Custody

A 62-year-old man is receiving medical treatment after reportedly attempting to take his own life while in police custody at the Nassau Street Police Station.​

According to preliminary reports from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

The suspect allegedly inflicted injuries upon himself while confined in a cell. Emergency Medical Services were summoned, and the man was transported by ambulance to the hospital for medical attention and further evaluation.​

Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the injuries or the man's condition at this time.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
