A 51-year-old man who allegedly broke into a man’s home and stole canned goods has been denied bail.
Glenn Woodside heard a noise in his kitchen around 3:40am on August 11.
When he went to investigate, he allegedly met Jean Vanderpool in his cupboard.
Prosecutors allege that Vanderpool stole two cans of corned beef, two boxes of macaroni and cheese, a can of tuna and a can of cream, worth $12.
Police charged Vanderpool with burglary and stealing.
He didn’t have to enter pleas to the charges when he appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.
Vanderpool will stand trial in the Supreme Court on the charges.
Prosecutors intend to fast-track the case by a voluntary bill of indictment on October
