A Jamaican man accused of paying a child for sex has been denied bail.
Prosecutors allege that 29-year-old Lamar Williams, of Bias Street, had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl between June and July 2020.
He paid the child $40 for each encounter, prosecutors said.
It’s illegal to have sex with girls under 16.
Williams didn’t have to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.
Williams didn’t have a lawyer when he appeared in court. He said that he knew the child and her family but denied the unlawful sex claims.
He returns to court on September 28 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment.
