Member of Parliament for Central and South Eleuthera Hank Johnson has announced he tested positive for COVID-19 days after he fell ill and was airlifted to New Providence.
“Today I received test results confirming I have COVID-19,” Johnson said in a statement.
“I am currently hospitalized in New Providence.
I thank the medical staff for their skilled and detailed care of me and all the Bahamians battling this illness.
Please keep me and all those in our country afflicted with COVID-19 in your prayers.”
Johnson is the second member of parliament and the first FNM MP to test positive for the coronavirus.
Deputy Prime Minister Peter Turnquest and Minister of Education Jeff Lloyd were both tested for the virus twice but said their tests were negative.
