A former police constable is behind bars on multiple charges after he was arrested following a police chase.
Shando King, 23, of Inspiration Road, Imperial Park, was arrested at Bahamas Games Boulevard after his car crashed following a police pursuit on February 18.
Police officers chased King’s car after Tavaras Paul was shot in the shoulder during a drive-by shooting on Exuma Street. King and others are accused of firing at the officers before the car crashed.
The officers allegedly recovered a .40 Glock pistol along with 20 rounds of .40 ammunition and 24 rounds of 9mm ammunition. They allegedly found a 9mm pistol on February 19.
King, who has since been fired from the police force, wasn’t required to enter pleas to the charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Bail was denied and he returns to court on September 25.
