Young entrepreneur Marvin Joseph paid his $800 fine today for selling coconut water and jelly without a business license.
With jobs hard to come by, Mr Joseph decided to sell coconuts to provide for his family.
He’s the sole breadwinner for his mother, seven siblings and six-month old daughter.
However, his zeal to take care of family lead to three arrests within five weeks.
Mr Joseph spent two nights in prison before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt fined him $800.
Pastor Dr Carlos Reid urged the government to stop making criminals out of people trying to make a living.
Dr Reid has allowed Joseph to sell his wares from the Hope Centre. Mr Joseph has now taken his business online.
His Facebook page is Marvin’s Coconut Water and Things.
Since news of his arrest went viral, Mr Joseph says that his sales have increased.
He thanked everyone for their support, including attorney Jomo Campbell, who represented him for free
