Elderly tourist drowns in Exuma


Tragedy struck on Exuma as a 74-year-old tourist lost his life in a diving incident off Normans Cay.


The Royal Bahamas Police Force issued a statement confirming its investigation into the reported drowning.


According to the police report, authorities received an alert at approximately 12:30 p.m. today indicating that the elderly man encountered distress while diving in the waters.

Despite immediate efforts to retrieve him from the sea, the victim's condition deteriorated rapidly.


Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered on-site by emergency responders, but unfortunately, their attempts were futile, and the man died.


In response to the tragic incident, a specialized team of officers from New Providence will be dispatched to Exuma to aid in the ongoing investigation.


The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under scrutiny as authorities work to piece together the sequence of events leading to the tourist's death.
