Dr. Linda Davis Named President of BTVI


In a historic moment for the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI), Dr. Linda A. Davis has been appointed as the institution's second President, effective immediately.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, who expressed pride and excitement in endorsing Dr. Davis for the position.


"Today is a very proud and monumental one in our institution’s history," stated the Chairman. "The Board has unanimously endorsed Dr. Linda A. Davis as the second President of the institution effective immediately. Dr. Davis now holds the position of BTVI’s first female President."


Dr. Davis, who had been serving as Interim President since May 2022, has been praised for her transformative leadership, forward-thinking approach, and consistent dedication to BTVI's success.


During her tenure, she laid the groundwork for a new Strategic Plan, expanded the institution's network to the Family Islands, and initiated policy reviews and refinements.


The Chairman highlighted Dr. Davis's achievements, stating, "She truly has BTVI’s best interest at heart and has achieved many accomplishments in these almost two years of charting our course to success."


Among her accomplishments, Dr. Davis played a pivotal role in the launch of a new website, introduced an innovative Solar PV Installation and Maintenance Programme, and witnessed a steady growth in student enrollment numbers.

Having served in higher education administration for over two decades, Dr. Davis brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

Her journey includes positions at the College of The Bahamas, Wheelock College in Boston, MA, USA, and the University of The Bahamas before joining the BTVI community in 2021 as Vice President of Academic Affairs.


The Chairman expressed confidence in Dr. Davis's leadership ability to elevate the institution to greater heights.


"She has a proven track record of commitment to advancing BTVI’s position as the preeminent technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institution."
