David Burrows out as Vice President of Media at Cable Bahamas

Cable Bahamas has parted ways with David Burrows, its Vice President of Media, following an 18-year tenure at the telecommunications company.

Burrows’ departure, which had been anticipated by many within the company, is part of a broader trend of senior staff reductions in recent months as Cable Bahamas shifts towards a younger workforce.

Burrows' exit was seen as a relief by some staff members, who had long been critical of his leadership style. In recent years, Burrows had been notably absent from the office, with his influence diminishing over time.

His earlier role as Director of Product Development had set a high bar, but his subsequent tenure as Vice President of Marketing and Media was less successful. In 2019, the marketing portion of his portfolio was stripped away, leaving him with just the media division.

The media department under Burrows' leadership struggled with high expenditures on travel and new hires without corresponding gains in advertising revenue, raising questions about his effectiveness and value to the company.

Burrows is expected to have more time to dedicate to his passion for local theatre, a pursuit he had been actively involved in outside of his corporate responsibilities.

However, his future in the local telecommunications industry appears bleak as Cable Bahamas’ sole competitor, Bahamas Telecommunications Company, seems to be an unlikely option for Burrows.
