Car accident claims life of 15-Year-Old Anton Johnson


The teen killed in a tragic car accident in Bimini on Saturday has been identified as 15-year-old Anthorn Johnson.


According to preliminary reports, Johnson, the sole occupant of a silver Mitsubishi Colt, was traveling north along King’s Highway when he reportedly lost control and collided with a flatbed truck parked on the premises of a private business establishment.


As a result, he suffered

serious injuries, and was pronounced dead on the scene by the local medical

practitioner.


The Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training expressed its deep sorrow in a statement, offering condolences to the family, friends, and school community affected by the loss.


"The Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training expresses heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones, and friends of 15-year-old student, Anthorn Jaheim Johnson, who lost his life in a tragic car accident in Bimini," the statement reads.


Anthorn had recently transferred from Gateway Christian Academy in Bimini to Sister Mary Patricia Russell Junior High School in Grand Bahama. His move was part of his continued pursuit of education in the region.


The tragic incident, which occurred over the weekend, has deeply affected the communities in Bimini and Grand Bahama where the teen had been raised.


Family, friends, and members of the school community have expressed their grief over the loss of the young student, who was described as a bright and promising individual with a strong sense of community.


"The Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training is committed to supporting the grieving family and the school community during this difficult time," the statement concluded. "It is our prayer that God will comfort his family and school community during this time of great grief and loss."
