Two former high-ranking law enforcement officers are being held in the same jail as disgraced hip hop mogul Diddy and Sam Bankman-Fried as they await arraignment on drug smuggling charges.
Former Chief Superintendent Elvis Curtis, 51, and Chief Petty Officer Darrin Roker, 56, are detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The facility, the only federal jail in New York City, has been plagued by problems since it opened in the 1990s. In recent years, its conditions have been so stark that some judges have refused to send people there. It has also been home to a number of high-profile inmates, including R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell and cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried and rapper Diddy.
Roker and Curtis, who headed the police air wing, were arrested in Florida in November 2024 after an unsealed grand jury indictment named them as key figures in a conspiracy to facilitate the transshipment of large quantities of cocaine through The Bahamas and into the United States.
They are accused of orchestrating the movement of tons of cocaine from South America and providing smugglers information about law enforcement patrols and operations.
