As some students in Fort Charlotte struggle to adapt to the virtual learning environment due to a lack of resources, former Member of Parliament for Fort Charlotte Alfred Sears has stepped up to the plate.
Sears, a former Minister of Education, said he understands the value of a good education and donated more than 100 tablets to children in his former constituency on Friday.
He said his aim is to ensure they have the tools needed to continue their education during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The tablets were laid out on display at his Market Street office, ready for distribution to those who need them most.
Though he was unsuccessful in the previous general election, Sears said he never stopped working on behalf of the residents of Fort Charlotte.
Each year, he hosts a summer camp to keep his younger constituents entertained and educated. However, the program was unable to carry on this summer due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which became more ferocious and aggressive after the country’s borders were reopened to visitors on July 1.
