Adrian Gibson’s childhood friend testifies in trial

The childhood friend of FNM MP Adrian Gibson testified today that he was added as a director of Elite Maintenance, which received Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) contracts, but he never received any payments from the company.

Rexville Sinclair Pratt, who grew up with both Adrian and Rashae Gibson, was allowed to take the stand as he lives on Exuma and is presently in New Providence.

Pratt testified that he was asked by Gibson’s then-girlfriend Alexandria Mackey, to be a director in Elite Maintenance Company.

He stated that the documents were sent to him via a Leair charter flight. He said he signed three pages and sent copies of his passport and National Insurance card along with the signed documents via Leair.

When asked by the prosecution if he knew whether Elite Maintenance had employees, a bank account or had contracts with WSC, Pratt said no.

He was also asked if he had made any bids or entered into a contract with WSC, and responded no.

Pratt responded with a resounding “never” when asked if he had received any wire transfers from Elite Maintenance and when asked if he had collected any payments for contracts from Water and Sewerage.

Pratt was shown several documents showing him as a director of Elite Maintenance.

He agreed that while it was his name on the document it was not his signature. On one document dated December 31, he stated he could not have signed it as it was New Year’s Eve and he would have been at home with his family.

He indicated that he had asked Mackey for copies of documents for the company which he had signed but to date he has received no response.

This led him to reach out to Adrian Gibson with the same request. He said he was told he would look into it but Gibson never got back to him.

At this point, Pratt said he assumed that there was no company. It was not until accusations were circulated on social media that he knew something was wrong and he felt he had been double crossed.

In cross examination by defense attorney Damian Gomez, Pratt stated he was interviewed at WSC headquarters and at the Central Detective Unit (CDU).

He testified that at no time was he arrested, felt afraid or was threatened with being charged.

He stated that he never bribed Gibson or discussed bribing with him. He said he didn’t purchase car, or property for Gibson nor did he and Gibson discuss committing any fraud and as far as he knew Gibson was not a part of Elite Maintenance.

Gibson and several others are on trial in relation to the awarding of WSC contracts to certain companies while Gibson served as executive chairman of the corporation.
